To avoid plagiarism, you must give credit whenever you:Directly quote another person’s written or spoken words. Paraphrase another person’s spoken or written words. Use theories, ideas, opinions, research, etc. Use historical, statistical, or scientific facts or data that are not your own.
What are the effects of plagiarism?
Students who plagiarize or otherwise engage in academic dishonesty face serious consequences. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to, failure on an assignment, grade reduction or course failure, suspension, and possibly dismissal.
Can plagiarism be forgiven?
Yes, you can plagiarize your own work, if you do not do it correctly. The only way I can forgive it is if the student missed the reference by accident. They can go back, correct it, then resubmit it.
