ZipCash is NTTA’s electronic toll collection process for non-TollTag customers. ZipCash bills are sent by mail to the registered owner of the vehicle and the rates for travel are at least 50 percent higher than TollTag rates. To avoid higher rates and billing by mail, sign up for a TollTag.
Is TxTag cheaper than EZ TAG?
EZ Tag can be used in Texas, Oklahoma or Kansas and costs $15 for the tag. You must load $40 onto the tag to begin with and it reloads a minimum of $40 automatically when your balance dips below $10. TxTag (pronounced Tex-tag) is good for the entire state and does not cost money for the tag.

Pay BY Mail is a program of TxDOT while ZipCash of NTTA. If you do not have a compatible tag in your vehicle, you will receive a bill to pay toll. The ZipCash toll and Pay By Mail tolls are higher and is only sent after a particular amount has accumulated.
Why am I not receiving ZipCash invoices from NTTA?
If the credit/debit card information for your TollTag account is incorrect or outdated, NTTA is unable to charge tolls incurred to the card; this can cause your TollTag account to reach a $0 balance, and you will then receive ZipCash invoices at the higher toll rate.
